BA and Avis Car hire

Hi.
Does anyone know if Avis put a hold on your credit/debit card when you pick up the car.

We normally use Alamo, and all they do is scan your card to make sure it is working. This time we may be using booking with British Airways who use Avis, and I'm not sure what they do.

Yes they do- they swipe your card when you pick it up
