Alamo brits and refund!
Cancelled our car hire through Alamo brits 2 weeks ago. Email states we would receive a refund in 3-5 days. Still nothing so tried to contact Alamo on the 0800 number on the email. Spoke to two people who were American who advised as booked through third party they can’t refund and will have to go to Alamo brits 😮.
Obviously they are Alamo and no other number for brits. Anyone know who I can contact as going round in circles 😔 Has definitely put me off booking with them again. |

Ahh the old Strathearn Publishing nonsense which is the publisher of the Brits Guide. That’s where Alamo gets confused even though your payment was processed via Alamo in the UK.
Sad to say like all rental companies the admin staff are useless. I had this about 2 years ago so put the E Mail audit trail on to a Word document and sent the whole lot to Barclaycard. Refunded by them in 24 hours. Cannot be dealing with fools.

Wow thanks! I had no idea how hard this would be. The only let down we have had in regards to a refund. Will email them now so we have an audit trail

That’s trail is essential. Basically I made them commit themselves in writing and thus look foolish.
I did things like quoting the Alamo Ref No, the fact they processed the money etc. Then they came back and denied it. Unbelievable. Best of luck.

I agree with you. But the £ is King and sometimes even Andy cannot get anywhere near other suppliers.
The difference can sometimes be big. But I do agree Andy has great customer service.

I seem to be having this exact problem. Booked by Alamo Brits but now when I try to cancel on their website it states I booked through a third party and to go through them.
I called up the UK based 0800 number and was told they would send a message to the America side asking for a refund and it would take 7-10 working days. That was on 19th August and nothing since. The email seems to have come through Enterprise (EHI) so I don't know if they manage the European side of Alamo? Either way - still no money back. Used Alamo on my last visit no problem but not impressed by this. May have to start going the card route. |

I wasn’t aware this was an issue. That would definitely put me off using them in the future given the current situation. Amending online is so easy too!

Lisa. Brits is fine. I must have cancelled dozens over the years no problem at all. Very occasionally though their computer throws a hissy fit and this problem arises.
But the Credit Card people sort it no hassle at all.

I have booked with them previously and all went smoothly. Think it’s when you have to cancel then the fun begins ☹️
