Insurances
Looking for some advice guys, over and above the standard guidelines.
Hiring from Miami on the 22nd Nov and, as we all know, prices are sky high right now so called in a favour. We had a bad rental in 2015 which resulted in a free 7 day voucher for up to a full size car but understandably we needed to pay the insurances. Miami manager has kindly honoured the voucher and we’re more than happy to pay CDW and SLI but the SLI add on only covers $300,000 not the recommended 1 million, is this adequate or does anybody know if we can up this amount or buy add on insurance anywhere? I know you can buy a policy that enhances CDW protection but I can only see one on google for SLI. Rental is with Enterprise, who I believe must be part of the Alamo bubble. 9 day rental should add up to about £420, next best price, that I can find, is an int suv from Virgin for £720. If anybody can offer any advice it would be much appreciated. Sharon

I’d go for more than 300k.
But this is an unusual situation in that you do at least get CDW. That’s good as if you have an accident and the car is dinged (more likely) at least you are not having to sort out or sort that more likely scenario out via a third party insurer (see below). I’d top up here with a UK policy from one of the companies that offer car hire insurance here. The policies cost about £100 - £200 and make sure you get one that covers USA if you do this. This is an example, but shop around. rentalcover/en/?utm_...caApWgEALw_wcB Or cannot Enterprise offer top up?

Not sure, maybe. I was thinking the same, do the extra insurance just in case 👍

Hi
Did a dummy booking on enterprise.com and SLI at $13.31 a day, probably plus tax etc, is showing $1,000,000. I would question where the $300,000 figure comes from before buying a standalone policy. Edit. Just read the T&Cs for the SLI which states $300,000 limit. Very confusing. Not much help I’m afraid.. perhaps a wiser dibber could enlighten! Alex Edited at 01:03 PM. |

Hi
That may include taxes, I misread your post and put in a intermediate suv. CDW was cheaper for a full size but the SLI was the same price. EDIT again. Check yourself but when I check the standalone policy is coming in at £134. Getting vey close to rental through AutoEurope.ie, Thrifty with full cover. Have you checked out Andy’s price?
