best time to book flights
Hi new to this so please excuse any silly questions. We are looking at going August 18, when would you recommend booking flights? what would you call a good price?
Many thanks |

Hello Mamajay.
Welcome to thedibb. There is no such thing as a silly question here. And this particular question is one of the most commonly asked as we all search for a "good price". From my experience of thedibb I would say that a good price is what you are comfortable paying for the flights you want to do. There are those that will hunt for hours for the cheapest possible flights and those that will pay top-dollar for convenience and luxury. The thing about looking at Summer 18 (presuming you mean Summer 18, not August 18th this year?) is that you have plenty of time to think about where you want to go and how you want to get there. If you want a package (ie. accommodation / flight / car etc) many of the tour companies already have them on offer. These tend to be direct charter flights to Sanford (near Orlando). The price for these does vary so much on where you are flying from and the standard of accommodation that you wish to stay in that it is hard to say what a good price is. Many on here opt to wait until the scheduled flights come out (normally in the order of 11 months prior to your departure) and then hunt around for a great deal. Many opt to fly indirect to keep the prices down (ie. switch planes at a midpoint, often another US city), or to fly to nearby airports. My dates direct to Orlando from London would be £879.00 with BA (rather than £495 or so going indirect again with BA) - so that gives an indication of the potential savings. This year I think flights to Orlando international have been more expensive than in previous years, however, many have booked or are holding out for sub-500 prices, or ideally a lot less. Mine are just less (we booked a fly-drive via BA which often have quite good prices - esp in Sept / Oct the year before - or in their Christmas sale). There are loads of other ways to do it though that will all give different prices. It also depends a lot on when you are going in August, peak weeks (early August), back in time for school etc? If you can go the last few weeks in August generally cheaper as the US kids have gone back to school - for accommodation, and if you can slide slightly into September for your return price drop significantly as UK kids go back to school. Long ramble, but you are in the right place to search around and find more out before you book. Happy planning. Edited at 02:26 PM. |
