To be honest, the recent cases in the news of European visitors running into trouble at the border sound like the kind of things that have always given people trouble. Having a criminal record, overstaying your visa, and having threatening text messages on your phone can get you detained and/or sent home and this has always been true. I think there's just more media attention on these types of cases because of the current president.

Now, some of the interior enforcement stuff the administration is doing does represent a large change - there is a real crackdown in this respect. But I think that stuff is mostly out of scope for this forum - it bears little relevance to most British visitors.

Honestly, I don’t see an issue was long as they look like their passport pictures and have the correct documents to enter (esta mpc app ect) if they have heavy face tattoos and don’t look like their passports any more that could be an issue? But otherwise I would try to relax about it, Mco is a tourist airport just do the mpc app and be polite to the agents - the usual!

Do you mean we now have to use the MPC app to get through immigration?

Sorry if I've misunderstood this!

I wonder if it wasn't/isn't a problem because at least one adult did have the same surname? I think technically we're meant to take brith certificates with us too, although in reality I don't know how that really helps.

Honestly to the people genuinely worrying - you should get off social media and tabloid newspaper sites. I don't mean that in a nasty way, you're just eating up some extremely sensationalistic pieces of "news" if we can even call them that at this point.

For the majority of you, you're a tourist. You're coming from the UK. There's nothing remotely interesting or suspicious about that.

Every single story thats been in the news has had other factors involved that likely do not match your own situation.

Single parents have always needed permission from the non travelling parent to travel abroad with the children. This isn't just for America you need it to leave the UK with them unless you have a child arrangement/ live with order where you can travel out of the UK for up to 28 days without the other parents permission.

I think it's more about having permission to travel with children if one parent isn't there.

If you're travelling as both parents of the children, the birth certificate would show both names of the travelling parents so no other permission would be required.

I travel quite a bit with work, when it overlaps with school holidays my partner will often come out on her own with the kids and meet me. She's never had a problem.

As per the screenshot posted earlier in this thread, the travel advice was recently updated.

For the record, here is the UK's revised advice on travelling to the USA. Before, it said this

The authorities in the U.S. set and enforce entry rules.
It was just revised to this:

You should comply with all entry, visa and other conditions of entry. The authorities in the US set and enforce entry rules strictly. You may be liable to arrest or detention if you break the rules. If you’re not sure how these requirements apply to you, contact the US Embassy or a consulate in the UK.
You can read the whole thing here: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-ad...y-requirements

The "warnings" page for the USA has nothing other than a generic warning that no travel to any country can be guaranteed completely safe and to make sure to get travel insurance.

I really don't think there's anything in there that anybody on here didn't already know.
