Surely they have to have grounds to reach the point of a device check? Thousands of people pass through Border Control every day, they can't possibly waste their time doing searches like that without reason.

The German tattooist was detained because they had a tattoo machine in their luggage and were not on a work visa. Do we seriously have people believing that the US are detaining and deporting people over tattoos?

And this is the problem with social media, we've got people here genuinely thinking they cant go to WDW because they have a tattoo...with is quite clearly not the case, and pretty daft to even think that it would be.

I really dont know how much more it could be spelt out to people...

None of you are going to have any problems going to Florida, stop listening to tabloid nonsense.

You can write in red all you want, some tattoos are not allowed into WDW if they are considered offensive.

According to this report, the messages were a little bit more than just criticising the president:

According to a diplomatic source, the messages were deemed "hateful and conspiratorial," and officials linked them to potential threats.

It depends on what you mean by "have grounds". Legally, your rights at the border are very limited especially as a non-US citizen. If they have a feeling you might be coming for something other than a holiday, they can just ask to see your phone. They don't need to get a warrant or anything like that. If you say no, you'll be sent home. This is true of many other countries too not just the US. And it's always been the case, it's nothing new with Trump.

But yes, as you say digging through phones takes time and not something they'll do with just anyone - it's only people they suspect might be up to no good.

Our Daughter is what would be described on here and by the press as 'Gothy'... although she hates being pigeonholed... she has her own style that includes tattoos and piercings (shock!) ... that are on show... especially in the warmer weather. She is now due to start her 2nd season Working in a US Camp in California... so she had the daunting embassay interview ... so if the US Embassay allows my punky tattooed pierced daughter to look after a dozen kids week in week out up the Cal mountains then I imagine that there is no probs with a few tattooed sleeves in WDW

Just back from Disney holiday. My wife and daughter are covered in tattoos… many of them Disney related. Border controls only comments regarding them were all positive!

Exactly. You can’t even argue that the US hasn’t been interested in people’s social media activity before, they’ve asked us for our app handles in the ESTA for several years now.
