I don’t think that it would be extended to Staff.

Just as whilst working in the Military, the Police and now, the NHS, I know what my terms and conditions are in relation to taking Annual Leave.

If I am required to work on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Nights or any other days where I cannot be spared.. then I work. Those are my terms and conditions.

Teachers as employees likewise, work within a well publicised framework… Term time.
Pupils/Students/whatever are not employees.

Why ? Staff working in schools know they cannot have time off in term time when they take the job on .

Surely then a blanket 10 days per year is better than all this rolling 10 weeks etc and so much more easy to understand?

There are always going to be exceptions ... but without knowing each case that's not mine to judge. What business is he in?

For me it’s always been when we can go due to DD health, she has 6 monthly scans, some not so good, so need to weigh up whether we can chance it in between. TBH she does loads when she goes away - always scrapbook/diary and lots of things she writes about her experiences and observations.

Here she is doing her ‘work’ by the pool, as she has OCD she did the right worksheets on the same days they were being done by kids at school ( her teacher very kindly gave them to us before we left, on returning she had done more than they had done at school so had to wait for the others to catch up). DD is very different though as she goes to a special school with an individual learning plan. There will never be a one size fits all.

I just think it strange you could take 4.5 days every 10 weeks and that would be ok? Most people just asking for 5-10 days a year without being criminalised.

DH works in a tourist attraction I suppose 😂. He’s a manager and his leave is embargoed during school holidays. When he was in weddings he couldn’t have leave June - very early Sept.

Mine is embargoed Christmas - end of Feb.

One of my daughters has ADHD and is so ready for a break now, the constant meltdowns are exhausting, she finds learning really hard and struggles to conform at school, yet there is no grace, not even for SEN, not in our county anyway.

We as parents know what our children can handle, we know what they need & if I was allowed I would have taken her out of school for this last week. She is burnt out. I as her Mum know that, I know what she needs but I have no power & will be penalised for doing what I feel is right for her. How is that ok? Something needs to change.

Recruitment crisis, maybe to keep or attract new staff ?, schools are going to struggle in a few years time without something.

School staff have kids too, who would like to holiday together 👍

well yes, in the same way that when people choose to have kids they know that they are not supposed to holiday in term time.

What happens when a teacher is in a couple with someone who is not allowed to take leave in school holidays?

Let's face it, the biggest argument is to lower costs and school support staff earn so little, many dont even hit the tax threshold, so they would really benefit by holidaying outside of school hols.

Well not quite …

I mean my granddaughter is 7 , it’s only the last year the new rules have come into play , So it was hardly a consideration when she was born . Same for thousands of others .

Again if you get a job in a school you know you can’t be off term time even if you’re poorly paid .

If that doesn’t suit for whatever reason then there are other jobs out there .

And again if your married to a teacher or whatever then you know from the onset that term time holidays are a big no no .

There are plenty of other jobs where they have fixed leave or can’t be off at certain times .
