I lay my Pension on the fact that there is a lot more to it than just using the word Pet.

must admit thats what i think but nothing being said apart from an argument & the us e of the word 'pet'...

speaking of a waste of money the partygate Police costs were �500K and levied �12600. seems like a good return...

The thing is that sometimes the cost of an investigation compared to the financial return of a fine imposed by a Court is well justified.

Justice must be done and also seen to be done and if an investigation costs tens of thousands but only a �50 fine is imposed then in most circumstances that is fine.

Otherwise we will end up like America where a sum of money is allocated to a murder investigation. The amount depending on who the victim is and the public interest in a case. That can never be right.

Unfortunately that�s not the process CPS use, if they can�t guarantee a conviction, if the cost of the trial is high, then they drop the case
