Table Restaurants - Smaller portions

Can anyone advise if you could order a starter and dessert and not a main course at a sit down restaurant or is it frowned upon?

I’ve been dieting recently to lose weight for my hols and have already noticed that I don’t eat as much as I used too!

I’m now thinking that I won’t be able to eat what I used too lol ! 😀

Order what you feel you want - nobody will question it.

I quite often do this - nobody says anything.

Why would it be frowned upon? Order what you want no one will by an eyelid I often order of the kids menu as portions are much more manageable and never had any servers say anything

We also ask for an extra plate if for example we order a salad and are going to share it.

They never bat an eyelid and to be honest I couldn’t care if they did.

My parents did this a few times. Or shared something. Wasn’t an issue at all.

It won’t be a problem.

As a courtesy, consider tipping your server a little more. If you tip as if you purchased a cheap entree instead of the starter then your server will really appreciate it as the low value tables can really kill their shift. If you want, let your server know you’ll tip as if it’s an entree when you order; then you won’t have a problem having breads / salads that a normal entree would come with 😉

I may be in a similar position. Also my system doesn’t seem to like refined carbs these days! So looking for less carby meals.

Also I think since we won’t have DDP, I am more conscious of not wanting to waste food.
