Middle name on estas
Hey all, I'm sure it'd probably been asked before but.. how much does it matter on estas about middle names? I'm pretty sure I've not bothered to put them before and have not done it this time, then my friend told me she had not done it & to check to see if I'd done mine.. if she hadn't mentioned it I'd have not even realised.. now the anxiety is setting in but abit reluctant to pay another $21 per person because I just can't see us being turned away at the border for something so simple as a middle name.. especially given its not clear at all on the esta forms..

I did three ESTAs earlier this week and didn't put any middles names. All approved very quickly.

The instructions on the Esta site are clear. “all given names” so you should include middle names as included on your passport or it does not exactly match as is enquired.
just because it’s approved does not mean it’s correct. only the individual can answer the question if it should be redone , and might not be an issue however for the sake of the cost i absolutely would make sure it’s correct.

I did the same for my son and after reading that’s it’s all given names I redid it.
For the price it’s worth piece of mine. |

In truth it's completely up to you what you do. Most say do it but if you didn't then don't worry. The form is fairly explicit and says to add ALL given names and that it must match the chevrons at the bottom of your passport which will have your middle name on.
I didn't put mine on but redid it as I spoke to a few people (on an FB group) that had been pulled when entering the USA. They were eventually allowed transit but only after 30-60 mins of being questioned, and tbh I could do without that stress! |

Doesn’t it say all given names as it appears on your passport

I re did our family of 5s, after I realised I had missed them out. But it is very easily done, as they asked for 'first given name', not names when I did the form. And you have to hover over the astrix to see the details about it. So if you didn't know better, it's easily done.
Cost me an extra £56. But pleased I don't need to worry about it anymore. Only you can decided if the worry will be too much. |

This is the text on the ESTA form, only you can decide if you are happy to let the existing application stand. I suspect there are many people who don’t put the full given name as it appears on their passport - not an issue for me as thankfully my parents didn’t burden me with a middle name
I click every tab and link when I am filling out online forms just in case I miss anything. Edited at 02:41 PM. |
