Replacing Sky Q with Sky Glass
So we’re in the market for a new TV and out current Sky contract is coming to an end and we keep seeing the Sky Glass adverts so were thinking of looking into it further, but…
We get full use of Sky Q especially in evenings. DW will go to bed early and watch sky tv in bed using the mini box, which also allows DDs to connect with their laptops while I watch tv downstairs so we often have 4 people watching 4 different things on Sky Q. Am I right in thinking with Sky glass we’d need to get 4 tvs from Sky to achieve the same set up making it silly expensive, or is there another way? |

No for the other tvs there is a thing called the puck this is like the q mini box but it is totally reliant on the internet. So if you are going to be running 4 tvs you will need a very good internet signal. I have seen a good tv with q and sky glass, personally I would go for the good tv with q over glass but that is just my personal opinion. They have made the glass operating system and home page poorly but this might change and the remote is just obtuse

I had a sky engineer visit recently to relocate the dish and asked him about the glass TV as we were in a market for a new one. He said his honest opinion was to hold fire for now as still very early days - expensive product for what it is and still a bit glitchy. Reckoned next generation of product in a year or two likely to be much better.

We had Sky glass, was ok for 6 weeks or so but took some getting used to, but then they had a problem with ITV, basically lost it for 2-3 weeks, every time we tried to watch it the screen went black, looking at the sky community we certainly weren’t alone……….we went back to sky q, but they wouldn’t let us send the tv back as we were over the 31 day trial…..
I know there’s some on here like it but we much prefer sky q, too many teething problems with glass, I’m sure they’ll be sorted soon but I think they’ve rushed it out. I do like the glass TV but am sure I could have got a better TV cheaper……

Posts on Sky FB about not being able to access BT Sport for boxing, along with other snags.
You might be better to have a reasonable TV, a soundbar, the new Sky streaming device which apparently offers the Glass functionality to plug in to any TV. Another option could be to just have access to Now through a plug in stick. |

Sky Glass is a very average led TV.
Just my opinion but you would be better off buying a decent Oled tv and keeping Sky Q. |

Are the options to record and keep programmes on Glass the same as Sky Q? Seems to me these aren't available on Now TV.

We have Sky Q and not sure we’d move to Glass. The TVs look far too thick, you can’t record and save and watch later whenever you want offline from what we can see.
Can you watch stuff on Glass if for any reason your internet is down if you can’t actually record to a box or puck? |

Sky glass doesn’t have any memory, instead of recording a programme you put the equivalent of bookmarks on to your playlist. We found we were watching everything on catch up, this does mean that you have to wait till the programme is actually put on the iPlayer or whatever…..
If you wifi goes down you can’t watch recordings cos you don’t have any……if that makes sense…. Also if the hub/iPlayer has a problem then you might not be able to watch what you want……we (and many others) were unable to watch ITV, I enjoy the soaps and was gutted I couldn’t watch Emmerdale when the Meena story was reaching its climax…….
