Those photos are of rope drop so going to look super busy. I’ve seen people on AllEars and DFB instagram calling them out for posting photos like that because it makes people panic. That’s what it looked like when we went in March but once the park opened the crowd dispersed.

I believe there was an hour long wait to get through security at the TTC yesterday. It's not as though it's Christmas crowds.

Getting in to MK before 10am can take a while at the moment. Probably best to arrive later in the day

I remember going to Epcot before rope drop one year and watching the crowds build up until the entrance to the park became crazy with long queues eager to get in. Thankfully, once inside, the crowds dissipated and the park itself wasn't too bad.

It's a strange article though. "At nighttime, Guests can watch the newly debuted fireworks show, Disney Enchantment". When was this written - back in October last year?

The bit which says "Disney CFO Christine McCarthy stated that Park’s capacity would never return to normal as they are “managing things differently now”" is interesting. As it mentions, the parks aren't actually at full capacity at the moment - and probably won't be for quite a while - so it isn't as crowded as it would have normally been at Christmas, for example. I think others have pointed out that a lot more people are turning up at rope drop nowadays (for a variety of reasons) and that's resulting in crazy crowds at the entrance just before the parks open. It puts me off turning up at park opening.

and yet in today's Daily Mail there is a whole article about how expensive Disney is and it's pricing "middle classes" out.

well, if thats the case, imagine if it was genuinely affordable!

It's not like the rope drop crowds that gathered before park opening were ever really controlled in the past. People just gathered at the entrance and got themselves into rough queues. I don't remember any CMs actually controlling anything.

I think the problem recently is that there are more people getting there before rope drop. That'll make it busier and seem less controlled.

I know! If it's just the rich and the upper classes visiting now then lord knows how crazy busy it would be if the prices became more affordable and more available to the lower classes.

There always seems a bit of a disconnect when people complain that Disney is pricing out a lot of families whilst also complaining that the parks are busier than ever. More families are visiting nowadays than there used to be 20+ years ago.

Genie+ has badly damaged rope drop, particularly in MK. It used to be great, because those onsite and many offsite had their FP booked which included nearly every major ride.
Now everyone is rushing to RD to ride things like Mine Train you have to pay for.
Then if they have Genie, they are having to hang around all day to get their rides, making the park much busier.
Genie was an outright disaster if you ask me for guest experience, unless you stack the rides, but even then you are now having to put up with an artificially busy park with all the people milling about.
