Bees in Wall Cavity

Does anybody have any advice on what we should doo about a bees nest we've just discovered in our wall cavity, they are getting in out out through a hole in the mortar.

Thanks in advance.

We have that. A local bee keeper came and told us about them. They appear with the warm weather but once the queen hatches and leaves they follow her and disappear until next year. On his advice we left them alone and, apart from keeping the window shut for a few weeks they don’t bother us. Last year we didn’t see many and none so far this year so there is a possibility they have moved on. He did say he would get rid of them if we really wanted him to but he didn’t like doing that.

We have blue tits that have nested in between the outside wall and fan of the bathroom. There’s a small gap between the cover and the wall .
Think nature really liked the freedom of lockdown ! Have seen loads of bees this year too .

Thanks for this will look to see if we have a beekeeper locally, I have googled and as always varied thoughts on what should be done!

Where do you live Chris? I’ve had it twice and apparently it’s common in the north and I have details of someone who can help if you are up this way

My son has them but has been told they can’t do anything as they are protected?

I said to hell with that but they are going along with it.

Bees do not do any damage, unlike wasps and their nests.
If it’s a bumble bee nest it is often no bigger than a pineapple and only contains the Queen, the workers come in and out supplying her with pollen.
We had one once in a wall cavity, getting in through a gap in the air brick. They did no damage and did not return the following year.
Bees are protected, leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

Do they sting you?

I just don’t like sitting in their garden when they are buzzing around.

Not bothering us but it's gable end to next doors drive and Laura is scared of them.
