Mediteranean Magic Muchies - Day Two/Rome

We woke up leisurely today as we had visited Rome several times before and was in no rush to do it again with young children. This was a reoccurring theme throughout the holiday actually, as it was truly a restful holiday we needed after a crazy year.

Breakfast was at Cabanas, which was lovely and quiet due to the Port Adventures I assumed. Here are some of the food pics;

Various Eggs, we all really liked the cheese omelettes.

Bacon and Sausage.

Doughnuts.

Pastries.

Muffins.

Healthy bits.

Eggs Royale, I think and sautéed courgettes. All of the Eggs benedict/florentine/Royale were delish, rich but yummy.

Tomatoes and Beans.

Fresh Fruit.

Scrambled Eggs.

Overall the breakfast here is good, the food is hot and fresh and there is something for everyone. It can get a little chaotic at busy times (9-10) but otherwise a really good place to eat with kids.

When we were back on the ship we decided to cool off in the pool. However DS was just 1 and therefore not potty trained. Because of this he could not 'swim' and was only allowed to use the splash zone allocated for toddlers. This was fine, a little small but totally fine and DS seemed to enjoy it. DD on the other hand was very much enjoying testing herself on here:

which was fun. She literally spent an hour psyching herself up, and it took us an hour to get her off. She kept attempting to sneak past us and back on, but my mommy sense was tingling and I had her card marked. Sorry Lilyrose, it doesn't look like an illustrious career in espionage is beckoning for you.
We all made it back to the room for a nap for DS who was all splashed out. Shortly we were showered and getting ready for our dinner tonight at Cariocas.

We had a little pre dinner drink

Me - Mango Mojito, very minty but refreshing.

DH - Bud Light.

We were seated at our table and we had confined ourselves to the fact that this was likely to be our least favourite restaurant, however it surprised us and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the theming.

Here were our starters,

Me - Lobster croquette with lentil salad.

DH - Ahi Tuna and Avocado tower.

The appetisers were great, really tasty and fresh. For entree's we ordered;

Me - Jose Cariocas -skewered meat, prawns and veggies on a bed of tomato cous cous.

DH - Prime Rib

DS - Penne Pasta

These mains were delicious, really tasty and fresh. DD had decided to dine with her new pals at the Oceaneer Lab.

Dessert

Me - Coconut Milk Cake, I wish I was eating this right now!

DH - Churro and caramel sundae, which he declared to be delicious!

Overall we had a surprisingly great experience here, and it just goes to show that we needed to come out of our comfort zone a little.There was a very amusing dinner show the waiters put on by fashioning the napkins into various forms of custom for us to wear, DS however was not impressed;

So we took a little stroll this evening after dinner and before the show which was lovely we got to really appreciate how amazing the ship is. However it did make us a little nervous for our cruise on the fantasy this year, its a lot bigger so we may get lost.

After the show and festivities for the evening we all went back to our cabin (around 11:30) so I jumped in the bath for a nice soak. When I got out I found this;

Steak Sandwich

Chicken, Pesto and Mozzerella panini

Vegetable Pizza

Buffallo Wings

All ordered behind my back from the complimentary room service. Not one to be rude or wasteful I may have had a little taste. This concluded another wonderful day.

Cariocas looks interesting. I just read in the Unofficial Guide that the Jose Carioca is the dish to try.
