We never had a car in August and we never waited more than 15/20 minutes for a bus. As with a previous poster we tend to chat to people on the bus and met some interesting/lovely people from all over the world. Also at home our girls get driven everywhere and they enjoyed the 'adventure' of a bus ride.
If staying on site and I know I won't be venturing too far off site (we used cabs for US/IOA/DC) I can't see the point in having a car. But if venturing further afield then yes a car would be needed

Do a bit of both although I always hire a car.

Bus to Magic Kingdom to miss the TTC. Not bothered whether this is faster or not because I hate the hassle of getting back to the TTC after park close/fireworks etc. Never had a wait for a bus at those times, its quite a site to see them all lined up stretching into the distance waiting to come in.

I usually drive to all of the other parks, Disney Springs and other resorts for ADR's. The only exception is on the very rare occasion I plan on having some alcohol.
