Lewes

I am looking to stay in Lewes early September for the football at Brighton and wanted to ask about hotels/B&B's and parking (if I decide to drive). I know that there is a newish Premier Inn but I am worried that there will be stag/hen parties there. I would prefer something reasonably quiet during the evening. If I do decide to drive ideally I would like to leave the car for the weekend so I would need somewhere safe.

Are there any locals near to Lewes who could recommend/advise please?

Many thanks.

Not really much advice but from what I know of Lewes (my dh lived there when he was younger ) you should be ok regarding hen/ stags as wouldn't they be in Brighton town centre? Lewes isn't that big and last time I was there it was quite quiet

Unlikely to be any stag and hen parties in or around Lewes, they will all go to Brighton. Lewes is an old medieval town full of antiques shops etc, there are lots of B&B's in and around the town and plenty of nice places to eat, parking is not easy as it is such an old town but some of the hotels and B&B's have their own off road parking.

Many thanks. I have provisionally booked the Premier Inn (as I can cancel if I find something better).

Unfortunately they only have free parking overnight close by and you can only spend 2 hours during the daytime so I will keep looking for somewhere to park or check out the train times from Birmingham.

Thanks again.

Try the Newmarket on the A27 between the Amex and Lewes.

Bit basic but free parking and you can get food and a beer.

The premier Inn was lovely, stayed there last year a week after it opened. However, the parking was not ideal for me, I like my car safe in the hotel car park! Day parking was not an issue as we were at a wedding.
