Taking food into parks - restrictions?

Hi,

I've seen on the Universal website that they don't permit "picnic lunches" but that they allow cool bags no larger than 8.5"x6"x6".

Are they strict on this? Is disney the same? About to Google it, obvs.

We went in 2011 and 2013, took picnics to all the parks, never had any issues

We went to Portaventura last year and weren't allowed in with any food at all. It was a disgrace. Admittedly, Universal haven't disallowed all food.

I'm just wondering as the more stringent bag checks in recent years may allow them to be stricter with these things.

I know disney are ok with taking food in, its been 4 years since our last visit so maybe universal has changed since then? Hope not

Yes i checked Disney and they allow larger cool bags.

Anyone had issues at Universal recently?

Universal were very strict last July, small snacks and bottles of water only.
