Villas in Spain/Portugal/France

Hi everyone

Been back from our Florida jollies a couple of weeks, the kids want to go back, but I found the flights really hard on the way back. I have never suffered so much with feeling ill and jetlag. Anyway, I said never again

I am thinking of somewhere with a whole different pace, and would like to rent a villa somewhere around Spain/Portugal possibly France. Looking for somewhere within a reasonable 1hr drive of an airport. So the question is, has anyone stayed and would recommend a villa in those locations. Any pros and cons to consider.

Majorcas not huge so wherever you stayed on the island would be under an hour I would imagine. We last stayed in Pollensa in a villa called Son Rotger through Villa Select. They are a fantastic company to deal with and I will book with them again, they even left us flowers and a message of condolence at the villa when I arrived as my dad had just passed away.

Son Rotger was about 50 minutes drive from the airport (mostly one long straight road) and it was about 10 minutes to Lidl the local supermarket and 15 minutes into Pollensa by the beach etc. We like our villas secluded but they do ones that are more central. Cala D'or is also beautiful and under an hour. Portixol or Portinax (my mind fails me) just outside Palma (walking distance) and you could get a taxi from the airport if staying there-you wouldn't even need to hire a car.
Re car hire we used a local company Vanrells are they were great to deal with... they gave us a sportage that was five days old ... whereas I've rented through sixt in the past and it looked like a bumper car.

There's also villa plus ( I did have one dodgy villa with them so it's put me off slightly) but I did rent a lovely villa off them in Portugal ... I'll try and find it.
Majorca farmhouses
On most of the websites for villas I've mentioned it says whether car is required or not so that helps to narrow it down a bit.
Villa Select also do a late deals page, so if your not to fussed where you are going you can save quite a bit

We love Portugal especially Vale Do Lobo and Vilamoura. Both of these within 30 mins of Faro airport. We have always rented through Owners Direct and wouldn't hesitate to use them again!
