Mobile Discovery Cove suntan lotion

We are booked to go to DC in August. My son has allergies to many things including suntan lotion. I have to get his suntan lotion on prescription and our GO has suggested him taking steroids to help him out this year. I know that DC uses their own suntan lotion, has anyone else with severe allergies used this? Thank you

We were there a couple of weeks ago, didn't see anything to say that you had to use theirs.

If I were you I'd stick with what works for your son.

Someone posted about this the other day, I will see if I can find a link for you. They said that Discovery Cove had said they could have used their own but they only found this out after going. I would maybe drop them an email to check but it sounds like they would ok with using your own in cases like this.

I believe the reason they offer their own is that they don't want to pollute the water for the dolphins or the fish and their sun cream is deemed safe I assume. (I think its not got many chemicals in it but I'm not sure) But I suffer with Eczema quite badly and I have to be really careful, so I was a bit naughty and used my own before I got there (it was a once a day one). They don't check or make you shower or anything or take it off of you (unlike Xel-ha in Mexico!). Their sun cream is there available for you to use.

Are you doing the dolphin swim? Like munchkinmouse said I would give them a call/email about the situation, and may if you are doing the dolphin swim and they say they are not happy about the his suncream around the dolphins you could possibly wash it off before the swim then re-apply after? They have wet suits available for everyone so that will help with the sun!

Good luck!

No one checks if you have your own lotion, you're not forced to use theirs. Just use you're own

I emailed them a few weeks back as my son has flare ups with eczema and they do prefer you using their own but you can use yours.

As above you can email to confirm with them that it's ok to use your own, I wont take the risk with their suntan lotion on me so have always used my own they won't have a problem with your ds not using it if he has allergies.

For yourself, with the thick white DC suntan lotion less is more! So funny seeing people walking around who have put way too much on.

Been twice and I was under the impression that you had to use theirs but thinking about it its true there has been no enforcement.

The cream they use IMO is horrible, really thick and takes ages to rub in.
