Beginner drum kit?

Does anyone know where to get a reasonably priced beginner drum kit?

I have boys age 10+6 who would both like to learn so it needs to be suitable for both.

I have a friend with musical contacts so I can find them a teacher we just need th the drums (and a heavily insulated room)

Hi

Our DD was learning to play the drums a while ago and she got a Stagg kit which is apparently a full size jazz kit (I think? I might be wrong but it rings a bell ) so it was more compact than a normal kit.

Needless to say, she didn't last long and DH and DS (8) used it more than she did. I have sold it on now or I would have posted a photo.

Have a look on gumtree or preloved for a second hand one. Both my step brothers play and my Dads a drummer. They had to sound proof the loft when they played, it was loud. I wouldn't spend loads on one as it's definitely not a skill you can learn in my humble opinion. I think it's a coordination thing and I definitely haven't inherited my Dads skill lol.

Youngest Ds 10,has been drumming for a few years now- we started with a mess around kit(£40) that was quickly replaced by an electronic version of a drum kit - very quiet when headphones are in use.

We sold it for the same price we paid and paid the same again on an Ebay pick it up yourself offer, with a drum kit that now affords him the responses needed to pass his grade 3.

Our local music shop had a few different options and offered plenty of good advice but he fell in love with his kit the very minute he saw it. Added various cymbals and a cowbell and he is one happy drummer

If you are at the start of the journey - have a look for something that builds a love of drumming and at a price that reaffirms that if it is not right for them you have not invested in an expensive dust collector.

As for the noise there is no escape Enjoy as when played well it sounds amazing
