I didn't realise you cancel for free if you pay at location!

That is why the prepay rates are normally much cheaper. You do get the odd anomaly where the pay at Location rate is lower. Check the terms and conditions on the Hertz website to be sure. I messaged them to ask a while ago and they confirmed no cancellation fee.

All I could find in the terms and conditions was the cancellation fee for prepay. Give them a phone to be sure as I have never cancelled a pay at location rate as I have not found it cheaper.

Alien,

Just called Hertz to make sure. They confirmed that there is no cancellation fee on a pay at location rate up to two hours before your reservation time.

I researched car hire a lot for our trip and Hertz always seemed expensive on their rack rate but when you take into account CDP rates and gold club with straight to garage and spouse as additional free driver then they always worked out cheapest. You just need to keep checking rates periodically and keep an eye on here and other forums such as flyer talk to see when good rates are available.

withought being car expert

price of premium Alamo is 267 gbp
price of luxury HERTZ is 260 gbp

but aren't many of HERTZ luxury in the ALAMO premium category?

confused. Experts help. clueless about cars and prefer Alamo if price is equal but is it likely we will get better car with Hertz Luxury car or not really as if Hertz Luxury = Alamo Premium I would pay the Alamo costs

Went with pay at location with Hertz. The Irish side seem to be bit glitchy as it's much cheaper then .fr for same vehicle

I will keep an eye for Alamo deals.
