NYE doesn't leave enough time before the Uni's reopen, that's the reason these days have been chosen.

It's equally weird that the 23rd is chosen (which is a workday) but not the 28th (which is a bank holiday) [Obvs realise that some people work BH and not everyone works every workday - I'm using the UK banking calendar defintion not the reality of people's lifes]

Equally if you had NYE you'd need to include NYD (and possibly the 2nd as well) as all those still inebriated revellers forced to drive whilst still DUI on the NYD would be a disaster

None of it's ideal is it? We won't be spending 5 days with anyone, we wouldn't normally, my head says we should not see any one but my heart is over ruling it, but just Christmas and Boxing Day I think.

They are not forced to drive. If they want to drive that day then theres a simple solution... 🙂

Just a thought about students going back they are less likely to take infection back from their family bubble than bring it home. I agree about Bank Holiday and mentioned that on another thread.
