I know years ago there was $2 for every £1, and now it's only £1.50.

In laymans terms what makes it go up and down, and are we ever likely to see the 2 to 1 ratio again ?

It's down to international market forces, and whilst some people claim to be able to predict how high or low it'll go, with the world in the state it's in now, nothing is certain.

The $2 to the £1 was in 2008 when we went. All I can say is, that didn't half make it a cheap holiday that year!

It dropped below $1.4 a year later, but has been back around the $1.50 - 1.60 mark ever since.

It's been $1.575 today, but I just know that by the time I get to work on Monday and try to order some for lunchtime collection, the rate will have dropped back down to $1.55 again. That's exactly what happened last weekend. Still, what's 2c in the $1 when you're only getting a couple of hundred? I don't know why I'm worrying so much.
