We did the same thing. Didn’t really like the Port Everglades Alamo depot as they allocate specific cars. We refused first 2 they offered.
But very convenient to the ship.

We go in just under 2 weeks, we also fly into Miami then plan to book an Uber on arrival up to the port for a 1 night stay then we’ve booked a car from FLL airport post cruise as we found it slightly quicker pick up then the car hire sites at the port and haven’t gone back.i suspect the collection process is much better now but this works well for us.

I take it you’ve seen a cruise from Fort Lauderdale you want to do? We’ve sailed three times from Port Canaveral and doing the same again this year. Flying Manchester to Vegas, Vegas to MCO then MCO to Glasgow.

We use Lyft to get from hotel in Orlando to Port as neither of us want to drive.

It was 2013 so was that pre-Uber days? Never used Uber in my life though but that is probably cheaper now than a yellow cab. Not from MCO though.

Uber/Lyft is coming in at $38 from South Beach using their fare calculator.

We're also doing a cruise in Feb from fort lauderdale .

We fly in to Orlando 2 days before the cruise and have a car and hotel booked.

We'll drive down on the morning of the cruise and drop the car back at Alamo fort lauderdale.

We're flying back from Miami so won't need a car, just an Uber.
