Not sure, but have you thought of getting silicone straws instead? We have metal ones for home and silicone ones for on the go as they fold up nicely into a little pouch.

Even though they are not on a ban list, The security officer will have the final say.

They are no more dangerous than pens and they are allowed through. I doubt you will have anyone saying anything, its not what they look for on the scanners.

If you get a lecture about carrying metal straws, i suspect you will just have to stand there and... suck it up 😂😂

we've also been using them, but packed in checked luggage.
I agree with one poster above that that's not what they look for, but we have been pulled to the side by security on a few occasion with metal objects, such as a shoehorn. as we fly indirect, those little delays while security has you empty your carry on make the difference between a good connection and a stressfull one so, for that reason only, they stay in my checked luggage, as I know I won't need them on the flight. |

We’ve taken them in hand luggage and not had any problems. We bought them when our son had braces and we all still use them. If you’re worried at all though and won’t need them while travelling then just pack them in your hold luggage.
