Definitely go for it. It would be a great read, and also really helpful to people who are wondering whether or not to pay for it

I will read this with interest because I think we have decided to pay for D x DDP, but like you are eating where we want to rather than obsessing about best bang for our buck.

This is really interesting, I did something similar on our last trip, we missed free DDP so decided to purchase it, it was a similar cost, £1300 for the three of us; I kept a log of each of our dining bills to see if it was worth it.
We stayed at POR for 11 nights then moved on to Universal, so for the 11 nights we spent $2311 on TS, QS & SC. So in my experience I found the DDP a worthwhile purchase as it ended up costing us less than I would have spent on meals during the holiday, I also felt that we ate better than we would have done had I been paying for it on a daily basis, as I didn't worry about what I was choosing from the menu. We did have others who were with us who were paying OOP who were looking for the lower cost items on the menus.

Interesting. I've very much been toying with staying at a Value(the moderates aren't grabbing my appeal as much) and placing the difference in price from a moderate and upgrading to ddp on a pre paid card but I know full well I'd be counting the pennies rather than eating what I want.

We have free ddp for this trip but for me one of the biggest advantages of it is not worrying about the cost or what to pick, just choose whatever we want
I always look at the price and dh usually always picks the most expensive thing Would be great to read |

We're the same. We always book to get free DDP but paid this time to upgrade to full DDP from quick service; it was a no brainer, two character meals for 4 of us & we'd only have to do one more TS to have paid more OOP than the upgrade price.
I would be constantly distressed at the cost of Disney food if we had to pay OOP. Plus we love being able to get what we want, when we want it!
