No more fun at Whispering Canyon?

We have this booked for the fun factor only. So if there is no fun I will change our ADR 😡

Thank god for that, our advanced dinner reservations was one of the most disappointing over the years. A screaming toddler thanks to the “ketchup” and then when someone at our table was getting their “happy birthday” song a man at a near table shouted “ketchup” again! and ruined it. Food wasn’t that good either 😶

That's kind of the point though, right? If you don't like it - you won't go back. No problem there. If you want a quiet meal, there's a hundred great restaurants at Disney that'll provide one.

But why would people complain to shut down the one that provides the fun for those that want it?

I suppose though it gets out of hand. If once or twice during your meal they shout it out, that’s quite funny but as every table (and sometime several people at each table) want to shout it, it’s just a madhouse.

The story is that the new general manager of Wilderness Lodge (Thea something) ate there and didn't "get" the shenanigans so she's ordered it to stop. They are now looking at re-imagining the restaurant.

This year wil be our third vacation at WL..Decided to eat at WCC on our last visit..Wasn't our cup of tea, food below average, and pure bedlam with kids running between tables and three times bumped into my wife's chair while we were eating, even my boy thought it was pretty noisy...Yes if you have kids, it's a shame..We won't be back this year anyway..

To be honest I find that more plausible than the change being due to people complaining. I don't think that makes sense.

Of course there are awkwards, but most people are reasonable people, like us on DIBB, and if a restaurant doesn't appeal you don't go. You don't petition to change it. Whispering Canyon is not my thing, so I don't go. Some people might not think that, say, Victoria and Albert is to their taste, or maybe they don't like the Japanese offerings at Tokyo Dining, but then they will go somewhere else. No reasonable person, and most of us are reasonable, feels inclined to petition for a change in style for a restaurant that does not personally appeal to them.

I have seen no evidence that Disney is responding to complaints, they said they are just thinking about their service offering. They do this from time to time, they are about to change BOG for example, nothing to do with complaints either.

I think if bookings are down that there will be a rethink. I am inclined to think they might lose more business than they gain through a revamp. On the other hand, maybe they will come up with something that is just as attractive for guests.

To be honest, I was quite surprised that a deluxe resort would have a restaurant located in the lobby area, that was so noisy.. I'll never forget our first time checking in on arrival and I heard this CM shouting and when I looked round I saw all these kids running in this restaurant, I honestly thought something serious had happened...lol..
