Pubs always used to have bitter and mild. Mild was dark brown and less gassy. Problem was, at the end of the night, the contents of the ‘slop trays’ went into the mild barrel, because no one could ever taste the difference!🤢

When we were kids in Salford in the 60s, we called fizzy drinks
mineral, I don’t know where that came from.

My mum used to call it mineral too ! I think originally fizzy drinks were made with mineral water by pharmacists and sold as a health drink.

When I was a nipper, my grandad used to take me to the pub on a Sunday lunchtime, he'd have a brown n mild while I had a bottle of coke. Forgot all about mild until you mentioned it.
