Wandsworth Prison Nursery
I needed more plants and heard about a local nursery to me. It is in the ‘old hang mans yard’ of Wandsworth Prison (a macabre and chequered past - the author Patrick Gale lived there as a child as his Father was the warden so had read so much about it) but what a find ! Amazing to have a wonderful nursery to close to me - we filled the boot up and planted them out .
Wandsworth/Clapham keeps on surprising & delighting me (Thats my arm and trolley but cropped the rest as i was melting) Edited at 03:59 PM. |

Wish I had known I would have popped by - infact I probably was around as I walk the dog home by Friends Fest and cross The Avenue and it’s practically where I live ! SO pleased you had a lovely time - it is indeed a wonderful friendly place (so unlike much of London - sort of village feel ?)

I didn’t realise you lived there or I would have said , my granddaughter loves dogs . She was a playing with a little french bulldog puppy for ages and the owner was so lovely . As we were walking through the common to leave, there was a large group wearing England flags etc , they saw a disabled boy in a wheelchair and went over to him and gave him some flags and hats , you could just see it made his day |

I literally am 2 mins walk from that part of the common. I look after my friends puppy a lot and walk back that way - when I am out with Zeke I always find people stop and talk which I love . It is such a wonderful spot to live. I feel blessed to be here for sure -there is something reassuring about the residents x

These little places are so much better than the big garden centres. I buy my plants from the petting farm that my daughter has a weekend job at. She works with the animals but the plants are grown by people with leaning disabilities as it is a day centre for them. They are as cheap as chips and fantastic quality and I know they and been grown with love and care.

Apparently its the largest garden centre in Central London but compared to ones in Lincolnshire its tiny ! Not sure it was cheap but it was very good quality and I opened a loyalty account as spent several hundred £ today and need (well no I don’t) want more pots and plants . . . . . And maybe an egg chair oh and cushions for my 10 seater outdoor dining table ……

The building has a nice front for being an old prison.

I genuinely saw this and thought there was a daycare in a prison. The heat is getting to me apparently!
