The Waspi campaign is about the transitional arrangements to speed up equalisation of SP age for women born in the 50’s. Adequate information wasn’t given to enable affected women to plan for a pension shortfall ie from age 65 to their actual (new) SP age. Mrs O’s gap between old and new speeded up SP age was approx 2years - but she didn’t receive any notification of that decision back in 2011 when it was made.
Am I misunderstanding this?
Take a woman born in 1953 as an example. These women were told, due to transitional arrangements to equalise pensions, they would not receive a pension aged 60 but would receive their state pension when they were 63 (change years to suit the year born). This was fair enough but it was this that was then changed with no notice and instead of getting state pension aged 63 it would be aged 65/66 or whatever.

The argument has never been against equal pensions with men but the short/no notice of changes.

The year I was to receive my state pension changed a few months after I had taken the decision to retire early. I based my decision on various things including when I was due to receive my state pension - it was too late for me and I had took retirement on what was basically a lie from the Govt.

Thanks, that’s my understanding, but references to ‘six years’ were a bit confusing. Mrs O is in exactly the same position as you.

And me. It's the 64 to 66 that's the issue.

Yes, it’s the speeded up transition that’s the problem. Mrs O’s friend is 9 months older but got her SP 2 years before her.
Whatever, it will take years to resolve.

They did a room full of women who were all at school together and showed the effect depending on their month of birth. As soon as they said who the worst affected were I knew I would be there. 😂
