Mobile Lineberty app for meeting characters at Disney Studios

Hi all, just back from dlp but hadn’t realised that you now have to book meet and greets (outside extra magic hours) at Studios park on the LineBerty app. Booking opens 15mins before the session (eg 9.45am) and can become fully booked almost immediately. I believe you can only book 1 session for the day. It’s mentioned on the park schedule in small print but I didn’t notice it and tried to queue before finding out. Hope it helps some of you visiting Studios.🎬

My biggest tip is to install the app on as many devices as possible and try to get a slot as soon as they open. Failing this you can keep refreshing the app during the day as if people don't attend their slot these get put back onto the system.

Whilst I believe the app has many flaws I do like the system overall and each time we never had to wait more than 15 minutes to meet the character.

Agree with HappyPanda; whilst being initially annoyed at having to book with the app, our meet with Minnie in November was much more pleasant not having to queue for hours. To compare, the queue for the Mickey meet was horrendous with people pushing and farting, plus it took way longer than advertised! I think with a few tweaks, it could be a great system. One thing to look out for is that your time will keep changing, ours kept jumping forward and we nearly missed it; luckily the CM let us slot back in.

Edited at 10:48 AM.

In the Studios Park most meet and greets need to be booked by the app.

In the Disneyland Park you just turn up and queue as normal.

I think its just one booking at a time, rather than just one per day. They release slots in the morning and in the afternoon. They are for Spiderman, Toy Story character spot, Mickey & friends character spot and whoever is in the Animation building (this varies throughout the year).

It is an okay system, but I feel bad for people who only want to meet characters - why should they only be able to have one in the morning and one in the afternoon? You could get a spot for 3 hours later which they would normally have waited for 3 characters for example. If you like rides - you can grab a fastpass and ride other rides. Don't think its fair as it dictates how you should spend your disney experience.

It is a trial of a new system, they will probably tweak it a few times for a while yet.

Is his fairly new?as my friend went in Nov 18 and never mentioned this? My dd2 mainly would want to meet characters so I dunno if dlp is really for us this. This is a massive put off for booking now esp if u can’t get a slot then I’m paying to go to dlp for nothing
