Staying at Riu Tequila near Playa del Carmen, stayed there a few years ago, it has since had a make over, but we enjoyed last time, its not amazing luxury, but good value for money.
We enjoy being able to walk to PDC, takes about 30mins in a safe hotel zone.
Already planning a Bath and body works and Old Navy shopping expedition.

We looked at that one with TUI
Looks really nice
We settled on Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an as it’s our first main holiday without daughter and granddaughter so the adults only appealed to us
Don’t go till May 2021

We did the TUI trip. We normally don`t, we just book locally, but the TUI one was getting you there at opening and the others it tended to be mid morning.
When we arrived we were the only group there, so had loads of space to wander round. The traders hadn`t started setting up either so we weren`t hassled. By the time we left it was like a bun fight there, with loads of tour groups and stalls everywhere. To me it was worth the extra to be in and out before the madness!

I have been to both Chichen Itza and recently this year the Tulumn ruins as we were staying in the Luxury Bahia complex which is only down the road 10 mins from Tulum ruins.

Id say if you are only after a fix of the culture Tulum is a good option as you can get around it in an hour and is very cheap to get into , you can also take a collectivo down to it.

Depending when you go it is incredibly hot as there is very little shade in both, i like the heat but this year(July) nearly broke me even the locals were struggling but still wearing jeans lol, we combined the visit on the way back to stopping in some Cenote's this was one of the best things we did all holiday as it was so refreshing after being in that heat.

Either way you will have a god time at either

We stayed at the Bahia Akumal for 2 weeks but had half a day up at Sian Ka'an whilst our friends had the children

Its nice and very quiet up there you can really notice the difference especially no floating unicorns in the pool. If you want to get to the beach you will need to come down to the Akumal which is only 4 mins on a tram

hi yes we pretty much tried them all apart from the one at Sian Kaan because of the children. Make sure you download the app as soon as you get there because you can book them all on the app.
