If it's a matter of a few ££ and it has all the other functions then I think this is good. I am.pretty poor at browning the meat first I just chuck it in, part of that is because I am too lazy to do the browning in a separate pan plus you keep all the flavour. And any oil, if that is a downside for you.

To be honest the things last so long that it is worth paying a bit extra to get something that will do you in the long term, enfamille and with guests, so pay a smidge more. My mum's is over 25 years old. She looks at it balefully as it is still working and she cannot bear to throw away something working just because she wants a newer lighter model.

I have a Breville 3 litre oval one I’ve had it about three years it was from Argos it’s way faster than my mums cook works one .
Crockpot liners from Home bargains and B&m are invaluable ,saves a whole lot of scrubbing .
