Mobile Slight radiator leak

Strangely on two , one downstairs loo and the upstairs bathroom loo.
Only when cold and heating is off .
One seems to have slight leak from too nr the part where you would bleed it and other is the opposite side, again too.
Any ideas or do I just get the repair man out lol .

Mmm. Is the bleed valve fully shut off?

The fittings for both ends are screwed in and the thread is wrapped with PTFE tape (very thin white tape). That can sometimes need replacing but very rare. If the rad valve is fully shut off and as you say the other end also has a leak I would get a plumber out.

I wouldn't but I know how to do them. Don't try it yourself if you have a pressurised system.

Have you got a Homecare option?

Thanks Tom
We haven’t bled them nothing has changed.
It’s strange that on the other radiator it’s at other side where the large nut is.

Funny though as have had to repressurise the boiler twice since Aug as it’s dropped below
the 1 bar. Boiler only 14 months old but radiators are 14 years , maybe time
To replace those ones?

No, nothing wrong with 14yr old rads. They will last for 40+ years as long as the system has a rust inhibitor in it (most do) and also you keep an eye on surface rust should it appear in bathrooms etc.

Mine were installed in 1986 and are still fine.

Now thermostatic valves can fail and also fittings can sometimes but rarely have an issue but the radiator integrity will be fine.

Edit.

Found this online. This would be the only time to get worried as that rust no matter what you do will eventually eat through the rad and it will fail.

Damp bathrooms and poor maintenance can lead to this.

Mmm, shouldn't do if you had a new boiler under 2 years ago. Did they put an inhibitor in? If not they need shooting.

If you have a Homecare or similar agreement, get them out. We had small leaks from our two lounge radiators a year after putting them back following building work and decorating. Annoyingly we waited to put new carpet down because we were concerned about leaks
British Gas came out and concluded that the valves could not be tightened any more and that they were just old - he put some liquid into the system - which is apparently the liquid version of the PTFE tape Mr Tom mentioned. It is meant to seek out and repair small leaks (weird?) - anyway it worked

He used this stuff. Good gear for miniscule leaks.

When we got the boiler in we got this black pipe type thing (sorry) lol
It comes from the top of boiler and it’s to trap stuff getting on the system , sorry hubby knows but he’s at work now.
It’s a filter thing that has to be cleaned when it’s serviced ?
