Deluxe Dining at Value/ Moderate

Is it feasible/ cost effective to stay at a Value or Moderate hotel and pay to upgrade to Deluxe Dining? We did AKL with standard dining this year but weren't in the hotel much so was thinking of a cheaper hotel and either standard or deluxe dining plan

Totally doable. We wanted the Disney dining and it worked out better for us to book value resort and upgrade rather than going for a deluxe resort and it been included.

Yeah we upgraded next year at POFQ, for two adults for a week it only cost £238! I think that’s pretty good, that’s just DDP not deluxe

I would say it depends on which resort you are swapping too/from, so best to price up examples on the website and see which one works out most cost-effective

it's definitely doable. Dining plans do not depend on the hotel category (well except for the plan you get for free)

so you can indeed stay at a value and pay for a DxDP

no, on cost effectiveness, you're going to pay that money.
Let's say you book a value, pay for DxDP, how much would you pay for a moderate, and upgrade QSDP to DxDP ? If you find out the difference is very small, then even if you don't use the hotel much, why pay the same amount for a lower category hotel ?

you got to do the maths.

It's always been slightly cheaper for us booking a moderate and upgrading to regular DDP but not by too much so always stayed at OKW or Saratoga springs, however this year for our dates moderate and upgrading was A LOT cheaper so POFQ here we come. Doubt deluxe dining would be cost effective.

Just a quick pricing for 2 adults for 2 weeks:
Value - £2044 to upgrade
Mod - £1288

Personally I think that's a lot of money, we would generally spend about £100/day for 2 of us with no plan. Whilst the latter looks a better deal bear in mind that you would already have 2 QS meals included so would you spend the best part of £1300 on TS meals? I've seen people "justify" DxDDP so that they can have more signature meals but generally value wise a Signature is approx $90 value wise so it really depends on those numbers.

For us, SSR with free DDP was cheaper than POR upgrading the free QSDP. So no-brainer. More space, more facilities and a 10 min walk to Disney Springs!
