Girly Aisle is no more

From our very first trips to the US we used to love to go to Toys R Us at the Florida Mall. We hadn't seen anything like it before, huge selection and all the latest toys.

It was very much part of our visits to go and let our daughter have a couple of items from 'The Girly Aisle'. The Playmobile store was a must visit and obviously the Lego Store at Downtown Disney.

Quite sad that this will become something from the past.

It's a good thing that it's gone but very sad that it needed to be forced by a law. These days everybody should be aware that there are no longer any such things as boys' toys or girls' toys

She chose her toys, that was part of the fun that she could pick what she wanted.

One of the first key skills kids learn when they start school is grouping things together that are similar.

All the toys our daughter was interested in a young age were in the same sections of the stores. Just like when I go to B&Q all the screws and nails are in one aisle and all the pipes, taps and washers are in another.

From the actual article...
The new law, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom on Saturday, does not ban boys and girls sections in shops.

But large stores must have also have a separate, gender-neutral section

Non story, they can still have boys and girls sections.

Agreed. I have one of each only 13 months apart. We let them chose what they wanted and didn’t ‘force’ them into sections - they were generally drawn to similar stuff every time

My 8 year old son heads straight for the ‘girly aisle’ when we go to the toy shops. He adores barbies, our generation and anything like that. Luckily he also loves the colour pink but it would be nice if it wasn’t just aimed for girls. Boys like barbies too👍
