The Trip with the Sidekick - June 2021
Hi everyone
With today's incredible news about the Oxford vaccine, I figured I would ride the wave of positivity and start the pre-trip report I've been meaning to start for a little while. Our last trip was in April 2019, I was 18 weeks pregnant with our little boy and as we couldn't really think of a better place to holiday with him as he grows up, we took the plunge and invested in DVC while we were there! As I was going to spend the rest of 2019 either heavily pregnant or with a tiny newborn, we decided to bank our 2018 points into the 2019 use year and have a trip with my parents in March 2020. The decision was made and the date was set. Then 5 days beforehand, Trump closed the borders and Disney closed their gates. As we had no idea then just how long we'd be in this mess, we rebooked for September 20... and again for March 21... and finally for June 21 (flying 2 days after our rescheduled from 2020 wedding blessing!). So, with my positive pants on that this trip will definitely happen, allow me to introduce the cast: Me - Chief Planner, booker, worrier. Favourite park is Animal Kingdom and favourite ride is Expedition Everest. Most looking forward to just being there! DH - He pays passing interest in the planning, has clear views of where he likes to eat and where he doesn't (this guy is NOT a Le Cellier fan ). Favourite park is probably Animal Kingdom too, but he loves criticising me for not planning enough EPCOT time in! Once we get to the airport hotel, he considers my role of planning to be complete, and he steps in for 'the execute phase'. Can you tell we're both in the military? DS - He will be 21 months old when we travel, he absolutely ADORES Moana, but I still think his spirit animal is Pascal, he's such a cheeky little boy. His favourite part of the trip will probably be the snacks! We are taking my parents with us, but for ease, I'll leave them out of the introductions - just keep in mind that when I talk about our kid free night away at Universal, my parents will be there to look after our DS, we're not just leaving him on his own to roam around Disney Onto the trip itself! Dates - 12 June - 23rd June 21 (although we land on the 24th). Staying at - 2 Bed Villa in Old Key West There will also be a night, at some point during the trip, at Royal Pacific Resort as a mini moon for me and DH! Tickets In terms of tickets, we have Annual Passes bought for the original March 20 trip that have not yet been activated and my parents have 14 day tickets. As we're now adding a Universal element to the trip, we've paid a deposit for Universal tickets that DH and I will upgrade to Annual Passes once we get there. I'll leave it there for now, next instalment will be our itinerary! Thanks for reading along |

Sounds like a great trip. OKW is a firm favourite of ours and I'm sure the weather in June will be wonderful. We are booked for August and will be reading along with interest. Can't wait to get back!

So many of us had our hope dashed last year, what a shame your trip didn't happen. I hope you get to enjoy all the fun of Orlando this year. Let's keep our positive pants on!

Ooh will you be the first Dibber with a pre trippy to get to go? I truly hope you get there, it will be amazing to see your DS take in all the magical surroundings. I always wanted to take my two to WDW when they were toddlers but it took until they were 12 & 10
Looking forward to read along! |
