I'm going to have to drive.

DH sent his licence off to DVLA in early November and still hasn't had it back.
Cannot get hold of anyone to ask.
He found a way of checking where they are up to in queries and it's mid October.

We have 4 1/2 weeks until we go and if it's not back I'm dribing from Miami to Orlando.

Fun Fun Fun.

I’ve heard dvla are miles behind with everything from covid and then a few strikes, wonder if you could reapply for a new licence online instead and if it works like the v5’s have where if you send off manually they take months but changing keeper details online you have a new log book in days as its not processed by humans manually!
Like I say don’t know if that would work with driving licences though🤗
Either way I really wouldn’t worry about driving in us if you haven’t before, if your ok driving on our motorways you’ll find it easy, I wouldn’t suggest driving up the us27 coming up though as there’s no tolls and it’s more of a quiet dual carriageway that’s just straight and goes on and on, you’ll be bored rather than apprehensive😂

Apart from the Miami bit it's really quite easy driving over there. Just make sure before you leave the airport you are absolutely sure which way you are going. I do google street maps sometimes for things like that

I’ve driven and and managed ok.

Only thing I would say is I found it easier in daylight at first.

If I was having to drive in the dark from Miami to Orlando I’d prefer to stay overnight locally that night and drive to Orlando in the morning in daylight.

My dad's been waiting for his Licence since sept. Still not got it. Different circumstances as he has to apply to keep driving and has eye test. Sent licence off July then past eye test sept.

Thanks folks, I have driven over there before but DH isn't a good passenger and it's just a pain that I have to.
We were planning staying close to the airport anyway - we get in 7pm ish so I'm expexting it to not be as busy as we have seen it previously.
We are doing the 27 on purpose as 1. we haven't done it before and 2. my farmer DH wants to see more of "real" agricultural Florida.
I'm sure it will be fine.

My son applied for his provisional on line in october, but had to wait for a form to send his photo in for it. We sent it end of October and it arrived yesterday.

I got my renewed one back fairly quickly, I did do it online though and the photo they used is linked to my passport. My sister also got her replacement one back last week after a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed it is on its way x

Same here. I had to renew last month and my new one came very quickly.
