Someone explain upgrading to annual pass please?

Ive been trying to search old posts on this but I cant really get my head around it.

I have a 14 day 3 park pass for Universal, should I upgrade to an annual pass for parking etc? Do you just get a quote of cost on the day?

If I wont be returning within the year is it worth getting?

Thanks for any help.

hi
I thinbk if you aren't planning on making another trip within the year its not really worth it.
you would need the higher level pass for discounts so would be more than the seasonal pass which is what other people are upgrading to. another thing is the seasonal 3 park pass is around $100 more than the 2 park pass which again is what I think people are upgrading to (so you would miss volcano bay).
now im saying this but I have never upgraded .. we have always had annual passes and I normally get the seasonal for the kids and premier for me with the discounts, however as we always stay on site the parking costs are still payanle so I wouldn't know about that.
guessing im probably not helping much but didn't want to read and run

We upgraded to a 3 park preferred and a seasonal for 200 bucks. It's worth it for us as you get free parking and we go every year so get dissy for the hotels. But if your not thinking of returning whithin a year. Prob not worth it in my opinion. I think it's about 15 bucks for a seasonal 2 park if upgrading a 14 day 3 park. So If you just want the buzz of being an ap holder and get some perks go for it anyway I would.😁👍

We found it worth it to upgrade purely to get the annual pass discount at the hotels - of course this varies from season to season.

I upgraded in October 2017 from a 3 park 14 day ticket to a seasonal 3 park ticket for about $80-100 maybe - at the time a seasonal 2 park upgrade was $5.
I got my AP at Cabana Bay on the first day of the holiday then when we checked in to RPR (which I had booked 2 or 3 weeks before with the APH discount) I flashed the pass.
The rate difference was:
$298 + tax (without APH) per night
$199 + tax (with APH) per night

So we spent $80-100 to save $200+

That's before you count that we went on a cheeky week away this October & I didn't need to get any Universal tickets at all as my pass was valid up to the 10th - so that was another £250 saved!
Plus we booked the Aventura using the APH discount this year too & got a top floor deluxe room for something like $150.

We upgraded to the cheapest passes when we were there in August this year. We had 3 park, 14 day passes, but had not been to Volcano Bay. For the 3 of us to upgrade it was $37 all in. We are going back slightly earlier next year to get a few days from the passes. I wouldn’t have bothered if we couldn’t do this as we can’t go more than once a year. But to get 3 days at Universal for $37 next summer it was a no brainer. We won’t use it for anything else.
