The lounge at Gatwick is excellent as is the food they serve.

The food on the aircraft is getting better month on month. I was gobsmacked in April, even better in August and will let you know what it's like for the return next weekend.

The amenity kit is first class. Quite expensive goodies and a good quality bag.

Oft it's right place/right time; our 2015, £850pp UC return, interbanked €1.45 to the £ via Halifax Clarity (fee free). 2016 reward seats; booked Nov to Fl as a single, 4 weeks later our May return hit the system whilst on VA's site - VA only had two seats, hence our luck. VA linked our single flights and reassessed taxes and fees to that of a return booking, £424, saving £164pp... apparently VA no longer T&F link.

I fully agree the onboard food in Upper Class is improving - the menu cycle changes every three months. Generally speaking meals on flights from the UK are better than those on inbound flights back home from the USA.

I do however beg to differ on the Upper Class amenity kit - it's a joke compared to some other airlines Business Class amenity kit offerings. (And remember that Virgin claim that Upper Class is an offering pitched between Business & First Class on other airlines).

Concur re food Kraken, our first UC was canny, VA managers need to have a word with the US caterers. Flown VA for years, felt disloyal reporting back re the drop in standards but there was a significant difference atween our 2015/16 to 2016/17 flights.

Sadly we fly home Saturday but we are back in early March. Villa stay for that trip, going to be different but we are so looking forward to it.

Interesting thread. We booked P/E for the next trip. I won’t bid for an upgrade but will see what we may be offered.

Hiya Sue, with the exception of an airport upgrade to PE in Nov 2012 (half full cabin) UC and PE tend to be full upon airport arrival.

This Sat our first segment, Man to Atl has one seat remaining in UC and PE, ticketed at £2790 and £7104 respectively... oh vey
