I've booked using the AA rate and have never been asked for my AAcard. Am using the Amex plat discount in 3 weeks, if they ask for the card i will pull out my BA amex and claim innocence :-)

I've booked using the Amex Plat code and it does say it on the confirmation.
I do have an Amex card, and it's platinum coloured, but it's not THE Platinum card. There is a difference - the pukka Platinum card has a fee and comes with all sorts of benefits. Mine is the free, cashback version. I've done a Pay on Arrival booking so I will have to show the card but I can't see it being an isssue. I selected a standard 5 seater SUV and it offered me an upgrade to a 7 seater Explorer or similar for $43 so I took that. I did have a Escalade booking but it was made a few months ago and we're not going until next November. As it was over a year out the rate was subject to change and it went up from £462 to $2554.20! |

Ouch that's some increase - great price for the upgrade to 7 seater though.

It's actually pretty cheap at the undiscounted, pre-pay, rate. I forget the exact basic 5 seater rental cost but it was about £360. Upgrade to 7 seater is £36 - it only appears when you click through to book, it's not offered in the original list of cars.
(This is for 1st 2 weeks of Nov 2016). |
