A fifth gate if successful would just ultimately attract more visitors. Better for Disney to invest more in automation technology that allows them to open for longer without increasing staff costs. Then the folks that want a quiet, adults only MK will be able to get something approaching that after most of the kiddies have gone to bed

I'm not sure when you consider "pre money grabbing Disney" (they've always been money grabbers, IMO)? However, if you compare the opening times from 2007 to the opening times this year then you'll find that the parks are open for as long as, or longer, this year than they were 11 years ago.

For example, in May 2007, MK was generally open until 9pm whereas it is generally open until 10pm in May 2018. AK used to close at 6pm and now it stays open until 10pm. Yes, evening EMH is now 2 hours rather than 3 hours but often the parks are open an hour later anyway.
