Toy Story Mania closing in run up to Toy Story Land opening.

Because the entrance of Toy Story Mania will be moved to Toy Story Land - the third track has today closed (which was added last year); and soon the additional two tracks will close to enable the construction needed to re-route the loading docks to the new land. This essentially shuts down the ride completely.

There's no confirmed word yet on if it will reopen ahead of Toy Story Land.

I wonder how many more attractions they can make unavailable at HS? I was always a defender of it when people said it was a half day park, or not worth a visit... but now I'm wondering if it actually is worth a visit. I think we might skip it in April if TSM is closed.

I feel like The Great Movie ride closure could have waited until Toy Story Land was open. It's getting ridiculous now.

Won’t bother me. I found Toy Story Mania really difficult to get onto anyway, we only managed it once and the Great Movie Ride was not something I would ever need to repeat. I don’t think HS would occupy me from morning until evening, but we are quite happy to do half a day here and half a day there and we do tend to repeat things we like quite a few times.

We went in August and even with the great movie ride we struggled to film 1/2 a day. It’s a very sad place at the moment.

We're going next month and I will be gutted if it's closed, at best I guess queues will be longer with fewer tracks. Would our fastpass just get cancelled if it ends up closed?

I agree that the Great Movie Ride could have waited to close, although I think it was to do with a sponsorship deal ending? But it would be a big loss to have TSM out for a few months on top of everything else

Your FP will be cancelled if it closes that quickly but you might get an anytime FP as a good will gesture. This is what happened for GMR since there was almost no notice of its closure.

I'd predicted TSM would close due to the new entrance location, although I'm surprised they're already doing it. I can't see it reopening before TSL opens, as presumably they'll relocate the existing docks and reroute the tracks which would make the current loading path useless. So they won't be able to open again until you can access the new entrance.

I was already thinking about skipping HS in April other than to pick up the Starbucks mug, now have even more reason to do so.

Yes, I guess it was inevitable they'd need some time to move the entrance, as you say presumably once it closes it will have to stay closed until the new land opens. We'll have to wait and see what happens! I at least had HS planned for our first day so will hope it doesn't go to full closure before then

The sponsorship deal was forcibly ended early by Disney because they didn't want to wait to start on the Mickey Ride.

I'm pretty sure the park will be renamed with either the launch of TSL or when Star Wars land comes along.

It's a great shame there's only going to be 3 functioning rides in that park in a few weeks time.

The other 2 tracks on TSM are closing in a few weeks. What remains unknown is if the single track will reopen when the two main tracks close. I imagine if it did, it would be reserved for FP+ usage only (or at least 90% throughput would be FP+ with far fewer available for each day).

But... Fantasmic

I can't see Disney keeping this ride closed for the next 6 months entirely (I'd like to think they're not that moronic)... but it wouldn't surprise me if they did keep it closed, either.

It really depends how they route the new entrance. If the current loading docks don't physically move (by some Disney wizardry), they might be able to get the construction done, and keep using the current loading route until TSL grand opening day.

Surely they wouldn't have the audacity to still charge a full day ticket for a theme park with 3 functioning 'ride'-based attractions... then again...

Oh sad 😔 this is my favourite attraction in the whole of WDW and I always ride it multiple times a trip. I hope it’s open fo July 2018. Our schedule allows a late start every three days but I don’t do late starts and was going to walk from the Beach Club to DHS a few rope drops to ride it while the others have their every third day light weights lie in!

Should be open by July (I assume TSL will long be open by then).

Most disappointing, I hadn't realised such a major shift would he required, feels like they could have planned the design ahead a little better
