So it's showing when you try to do online check in, is that right?

I emailed someone last night and the lady in America got quite snotty. I said I can send you my confirmation and she said "by all means do, but I've already checked your reservation and confirmed what you've paid". So I forwarded it to her then she came back with a big long email, ultimately saying I have paid everything, but something about they don't get the full amount of money from the uk until the day because of the exchange rate. Which means I won't pay anything more but I can't do OLCI or skip the counter. I don't think this is right still. Think she's just making it up to cover an error as I thought anyone could do OLCI. I'm going to ring 0800 number today but looks like we are going to the counter 🙄

Ahh. You made the mistake of assuming they know what they are talking about!
Their business model is good, their staff who answer queries are slightly less use than a chocolate teapot.

You can still do OLCI and get the barcode. Dont go to the desk but go to the garage. Any issues with a potential over charge (and I dont think there will be one) can be sorted there.

This is what I've just said to my dad too. I will just OLCI and get the barcode and deal with it at the exit kiosk. I just wondered if it wouldn't let me do skip the queue online if I owe money.

Still may give the uk number a call.

Thinking of getting a full size one myself for this May/June. 2 adults in the front, and 3 kids in the back (ages 14,5 and 3 so not too big) plus we're only taking 3 suitcases. From what I remember last time I hired a fullsize I'm thinking that should be enough.
It appears to be a big jump up in price for a Full size SUV or equivalent for some more suitcase room.

At the end of the day it's only going to be full twice anyway.

Rang them and they said regardless we have to go to the counter as we have added roadside assistance so we have to initial the contract to say we want it. I find the American call centre so arrogant. So I'm not sure the online check in and skip the queue would work anyway!

Only you can decide what to do but I know I wouldn't be going to any counter. Best of luck though as I feel your frustration.

Well I won't have much choice if it doesn't let me check in!

Have you tried to do OLCI and just ignore the $90 odd payment thing?
