Am I reading this correctly?
We are going for the first time with our son who will be 22 months. So no ticket and too small to go on any rides with a height restrictions... not that we would think of taking a 22 month old on some of those rides. Anyhow, FOP for example, do we only need 1 x FP for this ride... then use rider switch for the other adult to go on the ride? Thanks

No, you still need a fastpass for anyone who is going to ride it. You won't be able to even get in the fastpass line without one. Tje only exceptions are those that are too small to ride it or wait out of the queue on thier own.

Yes, you are correct. Your son will be too short/too young for FOP so you'd need a FP for adult one, then you'll use RS for adult two. You need one FP.

Thank you, however, have read that you don’t actually enter the Q and request RS at entrance to the Q... FP or standby

Thank you Alkel. This is how I have interpreted it.
I think we will only be doing this on FOP and hopefully Slinky. Rest of the holiday will be the 3 of us riding together on what we can

No you don't both have to queue but all three of you have to go to the CM at the end of the queue to get the rider switch ticket. so technically parent 2 and child could go and ride another ride whilst waiting for parent one to come off their ride

So just to confirm, for a party of 4 (using 2 Adults, 2 Children as an example), only 1 FP is needed for those riding first?
*1A and 1C go on ride (2A and 2C wait) *2A then goes on ride with 1C (1A and 2C wait) So in effect: 1A: 1FP used (1 ride) 1C: 1FP used (2 rides) 2A: No FP used (1 ride) 2C: No FP used (0 rides) I can sort of understand the second adult being allowed to take an extra person with them so they don't ride alone, but struggling to see the logic that people can ride their first time without a Fastpass if the others in the group have used a FP as don't they go to the front of the queue (via FP line)? If so, I can see why people are massaging the RS system for the FP/additional ride gain, especially for the premium rides like FOP, Navi, 7DMT, TSMM, Slinky etc. Also, is RS purely based on height or how does it work if someone just doesn't want to go on a ride? e.g. makes them feel sick or they are scared etc? (using the above example, say 2C was tall enough but didn't like the ride and wanted to wait it out?). --------------- Edit: or thinking further with an example of rides as doesn’t sound like the waiting riders actually have to wait, they can go elsewhere? 1A: 1FP used (2 rides, 7DMT and Dumbo whilst waiting) 1C: 1FP used (2 rides, 7DMT twice) 2A: No FP used (2 rides, Pooh Bear whilst waiting and 7DMT) 2C: No FP used (2 rides, Pooh Bear and Dumbo both whilst waiting for the other group) Edited at 01:19 PM. |

You're welcome. Same as us, we mainly use our FPs as a family but sometimes I'll use one on a big ride and then DH or I will use the other one to take kids on something nearby to stop them waiting round too much. The system is changing soon so keep your eye on that but I don't think it'll change this part. Happy planning.

Crikey my head hurts reading that. 😂 Sadly as you know travelling with small children you can make all the plans in the world but they don't work to your schedule. We are lucky these days if we clear four hour park days.
As mine are young I can't really advise on most of these scenarios as we ride as single riders most of the time so I'm sure someone will be along to help you. Sorry, I can't remember the age of your children so it might be only one of your kids are too short which makes planning a bit easier. In meantime here's a link to the WDW RS info which might help with your planning. disneyworld.disney.go/en.../rider-switch/

This is all based on the old system. The digital system will be different when it is implemented soon. Last I heard its designed to remove this loophole.
