Whilst some people have successfully used cards that are for someone other than the main driver, the official line is that you need to swipe with a card that has the main drivers name on it.

if you have a credit card, chances are you can get an additional card on your account with your husband's name on it. just call up your card company and see what they say.

its how i did it on my first trip there when i couldnt get a card of my own, my mum got me one using her card/account, but with my name printed on it. i then used it to swipe for any security deposits.

visa debit cards also work at alamo, but be aware that it could potentially block out a few hundred quid on your account which wont be available again until after you get home. as pussycat doll said, it has never happened to her, but as long as you realise it *could* happen!

whatever you do though, dont use a prepay credit card (like fairfx) to swipe for things like this!

in May when we used our debit card, I think they only swiped it for a dollar and then put it back :-)
