Guys - online check in is not just for Virgin customers. I belive Savetime will work just fine as long as you have the barcode but just to be sure...
Go here: alamo/en_US/car-rental/checkin.html That way you can be sure that you have everything you need. It clearly states at the end of that you can go straight to the garage so if you meet the pedantic Alamo jobs worth you can show him you are just doing what your paperwork says

Use Alamo's kiosk and you will be on your way faster.
When you use the kiosk, you don't need to visit the counter. You can go straight to your car. This optional service is offered free of charge at this location. To use the kiosk, you will be required to confirm your protection options, agree to the Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions, and enter a valid credit card. (No change is made until you return your vehicle.) .Alamo is located in the middle of the first floor. Please proceed to the Alamo counter to obtain your rental agreement and vehicle keys. Using your link with my ref 489XXXXX2 is the message on the right hand side. Edited at 05:03 PM. |

Thank you. All I originally was trying to do was make sure that people understood that you COULD be turned away, as was the case with Pootle, unless you completed skip the counter.
From my experience, I only was told on my paperwork that I could go straight to the garage once I had completed skip the counter, not check in or savetime. Blimey! |

juneandpeter - I can only presume that you haven't checked in online, that's why you don't have the option.
You said earlier you have only completed save time yes? If that's the case you need to complete check in online in addition to this using the previous link. You'll then have the option to skip the counter. All in accordance with the website... "Many of our top locations offer “Skip the Counter” after you check in online." |

Skip the counter does not work, it takes you to a window where it wants you to book again.
