I've done it (well technically)

Back in May we made the decision to book for 3 weeks in April 2021. I am completely useless at saving money so set myself a seemingly impossible task of saving nearly 11k over two years.

To make the goals more realistic we split them in two, saving £250 a month in a fixed term savings account and the second, putting aside all of my overtime, SWMBO's overtime/babysitting money and any cashback we receive or stuff we sell.

Yesterday after a flurry of overtime at work in the coming weeks, I've actually secured the overtime needed to hit our second half savings target in just 6 months. (although it wont all get paid until christmas)

So in April 2021 we will now be heading off to a week on resort (probably AKL, although there is a great glitch price for OKW for the period the year before) and two weeks in a villa on Solterra. Any more overtime in the meantime and I'll be looking to upgrade the stay through Disney

I guess I owe a great big thanks to you dibbers for opening my eyes to the mental carnage that is disney planning and to extinction rebellion for funding yet another undoubtedly carbon positive holiday through their stupid actions

Congratulations on getting all that overtime in place. You will have done an incredible job and very organised to get it all saved up. What is absolutely certain is that you will have earned your holiday when it arrives. I hope you have a blast.
