Hotel recommendations for family if 5 in LA... near metro station.

Near the Metro does limit you to the Hollywood area or downtown. Where are you planning to go via Metro? Hollywood being central would probably be closer to where you need to go vs DTLA although DTLA is not that scary and perfectly fine to visit the Broad museum, Disney Cincert Hall, food market etc.. but just far out as a base for most. In Hollywood area you have Loews, Magic Castle, Roosevelt, Kimpton, BLVD.. The area is not the nicest, it's very touristy and a bit grotty but it's not dangerous and when we stayed we didn't hang around in Hollywood anyway. We did Warner Bros, Paramount and the Hollywood Bowl and the Runyon Canyon hike and had a blast. Lowes is a gorgeous hotel with great views. The nicer parts of the city have nicer street life but then you're not near the Metro.

Yes we found it grotty too but I was just thinking if the Loews hotel is nice then we could use the metro to go downtown rather than car. We only have a day before moving to Anaheim and we didn’t really see downtown on our last trip.
We’ve done Warner Bros... what did you do at Paramount / Hollywood Bowl?

Concert at the bowl which is the best venue we've ever been in. Just brill night. We did the studi tour at Paramount. Downtown we did breakfast at Eggslut in the food market, the Broad, too pics of Disney Concert Hall and went to a bookstore called the last bookstore then did the Olvera Street and stopped in Union Station for pictures (it's beautiful inside) before getting te matero back from there and then heading to the Hollywood Bowl for the concert.

Staying at Loews the entrance is not on Hollywood Blvd and the metro station is just around the corner. Your room/the pool does not overlook Hollywood Blvd and you needn't spend any time there if you don't want. The hotel overlooks Highland Ave which gets quiet after 8 and the hotel has no noise issues. You can also walk to In n Out Burger or to the sit down restarant Musso and Frank from the movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which is fab if you like steak, ribs, burgers, chicken type food.

Hollywood BLVD is seedy specially at night, but downtown LA isn’t that great in parts either..

Lowes hotel is nice though I’m sure you’ll be fine there for a few nights.

I’m glad you agree! I’ve booked Loews hotel for two nights and will use it as a base to get to Downtown in the day etc.
We will have a quick look around the Walk of Fame etc again but we didn’t stay too long last time as I truthfully thought like many others I’ve spoken too that it’s just not that nice an area.
