50% borrowing, when might it end?

As the title says, has anyone seen anything indicating when the restriction on borrowing might be eased. I've rented my banked 2020 points and started with some of my 2021 points. Now panicking in case we want to go before Feb 2023 and can only borrow 50% 😕

No idea yet, but curious as to why you would rent out 2021 points already if they are bankable and you might want to use them?

No-one has heard, as far as I know. Obviously it was "sold" as a problem with excess points in the system & was offset by allowing owners to "bank" points that would have otherwise been lost. In theory those excess points should be out of the system by end of '21 but if you were being cynical, perhaps the restriction "feeds" more rooms into breakerage meaning more $$$ whilst other resorts remain closed

I am waiting for heart surgery so very unlikely I will be travelling anywhere this year. We already have a May 2022 summer trip booked to Italy so again unlikely to travel to WDW before end of Feb 2023. Hoping that by March 2023 onwards I may be back to having the full bank/use/borrow option available

Good luck.

I think 2023 looks likely for the borrowing restriction to stop- unless they think it smooths the points use better and keep it. I think years ago they only used to allow 50% borrowing.

Park reservation system, virtual ride queueing and 50% point borrowing are all starting to push us towards the edge of selling our remaining 72 point DVC contract

I'm not sure I'm seeing the problem with 50% point borrowing, surely that is a good thing?

Not if you bought the right sized contract to go once every three years (which was one of the benefits our Guide extolled to us).

As Karen pointed out, the idea of being able to bank and borrow points and therefore use up to 3 years points in one holiday, was one of the reasons why our second contract was a 72 point contract at Beach Club. It was also used as a selling point when we first bought into DVC.

We already had a 150 point contract at Wilderness Lodge, so we would have a 2 week stay at that resort for a couple of years and then on the 3rd year stay at Beach Club. We sold the WL contract just before Covid struck because we longer want to visit every year, but kept the BC contract with the intention of going for a couple of weeks every three years.

At the moment it seems to be getting more complicated to holiday at WDW, with Park Reservations and Virtual Queues being introduced for Covid and apparently here for the longer term now according to the Chief Exec. The 50% points borrowing just doesn't work for us and will probably push us to sell our remaining contract. Now I understand that we are fortunate that we are financially stable enough to choose whether to sell or not. Plus, if we do choose to sell, we can always go on holiday to WDW without being members of DVC.

123 only a good thing if you bought enough points to get your stay without Banking/Borrowing but one of the big selling points pushed by the Reps, is the ability to use multiple year points to get your stay- not just us either as I had a discussion with a Disney CM who had paid for the minimum (Direct) for SSR on the "borrowing" assumption - now in her case she would have been better placed buying Resale & more points.
